NAND flash products accounted for 25% of PTI's total sales in the second quarter of 2010, compared to 16% a year earlier.

Memory backend service providers Powertech Technology (PTI) and Walton Advanced Engineering have revealed plans to expand their capacities to meet projected demand.

A recent report indicated that Powertech Technology (PTI) will acquire smaller peer Payton Technology soon. PTI has responded saying it is still evaluating the possibility, and no decision has been made.

Powertech Technology (PTI) has said it is mulling plans to revise upward its capex budget for 2010 to NT$10-12 billion (US$31.19-38.63 million) in order to ramp up its capacity. The memory backend service supplier previously set its budget at NT$9 billion.

German chip company Infineon has asked the US International Trade Commission (ITC) to investigate a number of companies that it alleges have breached its patents on DRAM. And the ITC said it will institute an investigation yesterday.
