Nanya Technology Corporation announced its unaudited consolidated net sales revenue of NT$ 25,491 million for April 2026, representing a 40.29% increase month-over-month, 717.33% increase year-over-year. Year-to-date consolidated sales revenue was NT$ 74,578 million, 623.58% increase year-over-year.

Micron Technology announced it is now shipping the 245TB capacity Micron® 6600 ION SSD, the world’s highest capacity commercially available SSD. The 245TB Micron 6600 ION E3.L requires 82% fewer racks to achieve equivalent raw storage capacity compared to HDD-based deployments. Built with Micron® G9 QLC NAND that is at least one generation ahead of any competing QLC used in data center SSDs, the 245TB Micron 6600 ION redefines high-capacity data center storage. Customers can now store and process significantly more data in far less space, while reducing power and cooling demands without sacrificing the performance required for large-scale, data-intensive workloads.

Rising global demand for HBM is pushing up memory product prices, which may dampen demand for consumer electronics such as PCs. AMD stated that due to increasing costs of memory chips and components, it expects PC shipments to slow in the second half of the year, with gaming segment revenue in the second half projected to decline by more than 20% compared to the first half of the year.

The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) announced global semiconductor sales were $298.5 billion during the first quarter of 2026, an increase of 25% compared to Q4 of 2025. Global sales were $99.5 billion during the month of March 2026, an increase of 79.2% compared to the March 2025 total of $55.5 billion and 11.5% more than sales in February 2026. 

Regionally, year-to-year sales in March were up in the Asia Pacific/All Other (108.5%), the Americas (83.1%), China (74.8%), Europe (46.5%), and Japan (7.4%). Month-to-month sales in March increased in the Americas (13.3%), China (12.7%), Asia Pacific/All Other (9.8%), Europe (8.4%), and Japan (7.1%).

According to media reports, amid the global memory supply shortage crisis, Apple has adjusted its Mac Studio and Mac mini product lines by removing multiple high-memory configuration options. Currently, Mac mini models equipped with 32GB and 64GB memory are no longer available for direct purchase. The memory ceiling for the M4 Pro version has been capped at 48GB, and the 256GB SSD variant has also been discontinued, pushing the starting price of the lineup up to $799. Meanwhile, the 256GB memory option for the M3 Ultra Mac Studio has been eliminated, with the maximum configuration now limited to just 96GB. Delivery lead times for some models have been extended to 9 to 10 weeks. Tim Cook stated that Apple has underestimated user demand for running AI tools locally on devices, and the supply-demand imbalance is expected to persist over the coming months. Anticipating a notable rise in memory costs, Apple is cutting high-end configuration options to secure supply for its base-level models.

Hon Hai released its April revenue figures on May 5. The company posted revenue of NT$832.1 billion in April, up 3.53% month-on-month and 29.74% year-on-year. Cumulative revenue for the January–April period reached NT$2.9617 trillion, representing a year-on-year increase of 29.7%. Both April single-month revenue and the January–April cumulative revenue hit record highs for the same period in history. By product segment, compared with March, components and other products saw strong growth, cloud and networking products registered a notable increase, computer terminal products remained roughly flat, and consumer smart products posted a slight decline due to a high base from new product launches in the previous month.

Winbond Electronics stated at its 2026 first-quarter earnings conference that there is limited room for supply improvement in the near term, and the structural supply shortage of DDR4/LPDDR4 is expected to persist beyond 2028. Driven by tight supply and AI-related demand, custom memory prices see significant upside potential in the second quarter of 2026, and the company maintains a positive outlook for the second half of 2026 through 2027. As for flash memory, NOR flash supply remains tight amid strong demand from high-capacity end devices, and prices will stay on an upward trend in the first half of 2026. The supply shortage of SLC NAND is intensifying, further underpinning price increases after 2026.

Winbond Electronics held its 2026 Q1 earnings conference. In the first quarter of 2026, the company’s consolidated revenue reached NT$38.253 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 91.3% and a quarter-on-quarter rise of 43.7%. The gross profit margin stood at 53.4%, up 27 percentage points year-on-year and 11 percentage points quarter-on-quarter. Net profit attributable to parent company shareholders after tax came to NT$10.114 billion, turning profitable year-on-year and surging 195.5% quarter-on-quarter. By business segment, revenue from Custom Memory Solutions (CMS) jumped 276% yoy and 93% quarter-on-quarter. Its revenue proportion in total revenue rose 12 percentage points quarter-over-quarter to 47%. Driven by continued shipment growth of DDR4/LPDDR4, overall shipments increased by 24% to 26% quarter-on-quarter, while average selling prices (ASP) climbed 51% to 53% quarter-on-quarter. Flash memory business revenue grew 23% quarter-on-quarter, accounting for 32% of total revenue, down 5 pcts from the previous quarter. Although flash memory shipments declined 11% to 13% quarter-on-quarter, product ASP rose 34% to 36% quarter-on-quarter, with the shipment proportion of high-capacity products continuing to trend upward. Looking ahead to the second quarter, 24nm SLC NAND is expected to gradually deliver substantial revenue contributions.

According to media reports, Apple has held exploratory discussions with Intel and Samsung Electronics regarding the production of main processors for its devices. The move aims to secure alternative suppliers beyond its long-term partner TSMC and diversify its supply chain. Sources familiar with the matter stated that the talks are still in the early stage, and no formal orders have been finalized for any such arrangements so far. Apple remains cautious about adopting chip manufacturing technology from parties other than TSMC, and may ultimately decide not to cooperate with any outside suppliers.

AMD CEO, Lisa Su, stated during the Q1 earnings call that agentic AI is driving substantial incremental demand for CPUs. The CPU-to-GPU ratio for primary host nodes in the past was typically 1:4 or 1:8 while the ratio is now gradually approaching 1:1. Looking ahead with a massive proliferation of AI agents, it is even conceivable that the number of CPUs will surpass that of GPUs. Driven by robust current market demand and the structural uplift in CPU compute requirements brought by agentic AI — alongside rising needs for CPU orchestration, data processing and parallel execution — the total addressable market (TAM) for server CPUs is projected to grow at an annual rate of over 35%, up from the prior forecast of 18%, and exceed $120 billion by 2030.

Greg Brockman, co-founder and President of OpenAI, testified on Tuesday local time during the second day of his courtroom battle with Elon Musk that as the company develops more advanced AI models and makes them available to a broader user base, its computing costs have surged from approximately $30 million in 2017 to tens of billions of dollars this year. OpenAI is expected to spend as much as $50 billion solely on computing resources in the current year alone.

AMD released its financial results for the first quarter of 2026. In Q1 2026, on a non-GAAP basis, the company posted revenue of $10.25 billion, representing a year-over-year increase of 38% and a flat quarter-over-quarter performance. Net income reached $2.265 billion, up 45% year-on-year and down 10% quarter-on-quarter. By business segment, the Data Center segment generated revenue of $5.8 billion in the first quarter, a 57% year-over-year rise and the primary driver of overall growth. This was mainly fueled by strong market demand for AMD EPYC™ processors and continued shipment growth of AMD Instinct™ GPUs, with server CPU revenue hitting a record high for the fourth consecutive quarter. The Client and Gaming segment recorded revenue of $3.6 billion, up 23% year-on-year. Within this segment, Client revenue stood at $2.9 billion, a 26% year-over-year increase driven by robust demand for AMD Ryzen™ processors and steady market share gains. Gaming revenue amounted to $720 million, growing 11% year-on-year on strong demand for AMD Radeon™ GPUs, partially offset by lower revenue from the semi-custom business. The Embedded segment delivered revenue of $873 million, with a 6% year-over-year increase, driven by stronger demand across multiple end markets.

According to a Korean media report, a Samsung Electronics shareholder group has warned that if the union persists in an illegal strike that damages the company's core assets, the group will take strong legal action against all union members. The statement also says that even if a strike does not take place, if management enters into an unfair performance-based bonus agreement tied to operating profit in order to avoid short-term threats, the group will file a "derivative lawsuit" against management under the Commercial Act, accusing them of seriously infringing on shareholders' dividend rights. Furthermore, the statement adds that the group will immediately file an "unjust enrichment lawsuit" against the union to hold it fully legally accountable, as the union has obtained unfair benefits.

Nanya Technology reported self-consolidated revenue of NT 25.491 billion for April, up 717.33% year-on-year, 25 billion mark for the first time in a single month and achieved record-high revenue for the sixth consecutive month. Cumulative revenue for January–April reached NT$74.578 billion, up 623.58% year-on-year, setting a new record for the same period, and has already exceeded the company's total revenue for the full year 2025.

Looking ahead to the second quarter, Nanya Technology previously forecast that the average selling price (ASP) of DRAM products would likely be higher than that of the first quarter, with growth expected to reach double-digit levels. Additionally, supply is projected to be unable to meet customer demand this year, and a similar situation is anticipated next year.
