OpenAI Expects to Spend $50 Billion on Computing Power in 2026

Greg Brockman, co-founder and President of OpenAI, testified on Tuesday local time during the second day of his courtroom battle with Elon Musk that as the company develops more advanced AI models and makes them available to a broader user base, its computing costs have surged from approximately $30 million in 2017 to tens of billions of dollars this year. OpenAI is expected to spend as much as $50 billion solely on computing resources in the current year alone.
