Silicon Motion's SVP of Enterprise Storage & Display Interface Solutions, Alex Chou, recently stated in an interview that the company has only just begun mass shipments of its enterprise-grade products. While still in the early stages of production capacity ramping, collaborations with several key customers are progressing smoothly, and he expects enterprise-grade product shipments to grow significantly in the second half of the year. Regarding the product roadmap, the PCIe Gen6 controller design has been largely completed, and the first silicon back is expected in the second half of 2026 if everything goes well. PCIe Gen7 is already under active development, with internal samples planned for the second half of 2027, and to move toward production in that same general timeframe.
