By: M 12 hours ago

Micron Taoyuan union yesterday announced the voting results, with 88.3% of all members supporting a strike, legally obtaining the right to strike. Taichung plant union is expected to hold a second labor-management mediation on the 22nd, and may subsequently also initiate a strike vote to obtain the right to strike. This means that Micron employees in Taiwan have gradually obtained the legal right to strike through statutory procedures. The industry is concerned that this could trigger a new wave of memory chip shortages, driving up prices once again. Micron responded that it respects the rights and legal procedures employees are entitled to by law, has heard and values employees' concerns, and will continue to communicate with the union in good faith, advancing discussions through existing dialogue and mediation procedures. The subsequent mediation with the Taichung union will be hold later this month, and they will continue to communicate with the Taoyuan union to seek a solution that balances the interests of all parties.
