Transcend Dismisses DDR5 Price Drop Rumors, Expects Another 40%–50% QoQ Increase in Q2

By: QIN 16 hours ago

According to Taiwanese media reports, Transcend Chairman Shu Chong-wan recently denied rumors of DDR5 price declines in an interview. He pointed out that the temporary pullback in spot prices does not signal a trend reversal, as contract prices remain on a strong upward trajectory. Driven by surging AI server demand and capacity allocation pressures among suppliers, DDR5 contract prices are expected to surge another 40%–50% quarter-on-quarter in the second quarter. Meanwhile, shortages of both DDR5 and industrial-grade NAND Flash continue to intensify, with lead times significantly extended. Shu emphasized that the memory super cycle is still ongoing, and high prices along with supply shortages are unlikely to ease in the near term.
