GlobalWafers' 12-Inch Capacity Now Fully Utilized, Plans Price Hikes in Second Half of 2026

Doris Hsu, Chairperson of GlobalWafers, stated at the company's annual general meeting that the global semiconductor silicon wafer market has significantly recovered in 2026. The company is currently in comprehensive price negotiations with customers, aiming to gradually reflect cost pressures from energy, freight, and raw materials in the second half of the year. GlobalWafers' 12-inch capacity is now fully utilized, and demand for smaller-size products has also rebounded, even leading to overtime production. Regarding new product development, Hsu revealed that the company has begun advancing the verification of 12-inch square silicon wafers. Since existing round-type equipment cannot be directly adapted, the company is accelerating cleanroom construction, with mass production expected in the fourth quarter, targeting to become Taiwan's first manufacturer to mass-produce 12-inch square silicon wafers.
