On March 9th, the Jinshan District People's Government of Shanghai and Alibaba Cloud signed a strategic cooperation agreement to accelerate the construction of Alibaba's Apsara Cloud Intelligent East China Computing Center. With a total investment of 40 billion yuan, the center was already established in Jinshan in 2021. Upon completion, it will become one of the largest intelligent computing hubs in East China, injecting strong momentum into Shanghai's development as an AI powerhouse.

According to the new cooperation agreement, the Alibaba Cloud Jinshan Computing Center will focus on deploying the "Zhenwu" computing chip, independently developed by Alibaba's semiconductor company, Pingtouge. By building a full-stack independent computing foundation from underlying chips and intelligent computing platforms to upper-layer applications, the center aims to break through technological barriers and strive to become a new benchmark for green and efficient computing infrastructure.

Beyond the investment in hardware facilities, this strategic cooperation also focuses on the deep integration of "AI + City". Relying on the powerful computing support of the Alibaba Cloud Jinshan Computing Center, Alibaba Cloud will work with Jinshan District to promote the construction of a computing ecosystem and help Jinshan District build an "all-time, all-area AI city".

Currently, Alibaba Cloud operates more than 94 availability zones in 29 regions worldwide. With the accelerated commissioning of the Kingsoft Computing Center, it will collaborate with hubs such as Zhangbei and Ulanqab to jointly weave a massive intelligent computing network covering the entire country, providing solid computing power support for the intelligent transformation of various industries.
