Samsung Preliminary Agreement Vote Turnout Exceeds 90%, Labor Conflicts Intensify Between DS and DX

By: M 8 hours ago

According to South Korean media reports, as of 10 a.m. on the 26th, the ratification vote turnout for the tentative agreement had reached 90.45%. Out of approximately 57,302 eligible voters, over 51,835 had participated. The voting will end at 10 a.m. on the 27th.

Industry insiders believe the agreement is likely to pass, as a significant portion of the union's current members belong to the DS Division.

Meanwhile, opposition centered around the DX Division is intensifying. Samsung Donghaeng Union filed an injunction with the Suwon District Court this morning, requesting a suspension of the vote on the preliminary agreement. T

Samsung Electronics Labour Union stated that since the Donghaeng Union has withdrawn from the joint bargaining group, its members are not entitled to participate in this vote.

However, Donghaeng Union argued that while they had previously stopped participating in the joint bargaining group, excluding a minority union from the vote on that basis alone is impermissible. It has noted that the DX Division alone has over 50,000 employees, whose voices have been fundamentally blocked.

According to the latest news, the South Korean court has dismissed the injunction request to suspend the main Samsung union from conducting negotiations.
