According to the Korean media outlet inews24, citing industry insiders, SK Hynix is preparing to deliver HBM4E samples to its key customers. Market consensus indicates that shipments could start as early as this month, or by next month at the latest.
Industry insiders believe that since HBM4E is scheduled for mass production next year, customer validation and optimization must take place in the second half of this year, making the sample deliveries imminent.
HBM4E is the successor to HBM4 (6th generation), which is currently in mass production. It is expected to be used in NVIDIA's next-generation AI accelerator, "Rubin Ultra," slated for release next year.
In a roadmap released last year, SK Hynix announced plans to sequentially launch 16-layer HBM4 products, as well as 8-layer, 12-layer, and 16-layer HBM4E variants, along with customized HBM4E offerings, starting this year.
