August Revenue Sets New Historical Monthly High, Supply Remains Tight

Phison Electronics' consolidated revenue for August was NT$28.276 billion, up 4% month-on-month and 377% year-on-year, setting a new historical monthly high. Cumulative revenue for January to August reached NT$164.293 billion, up 279% year-on-year, also setting a new record for the same period in history. Specifically, Phison's total controller chip shipments in August increased by 10% compared with July, among which PCIe SSD controller chip shipments grew by 77% month-on-month, indicating that demand for AI servers, enterprise-grade storage, and high-speed PCIe SSDs continues to expand.

Phison CEO Pua Khein-Seng said that enterprises adopting AI has become an irreversible trend, with demand for key components such as CPUs, GPUs, DRAM, and SSDs remaining strong, while supply continues to be tight. Regarding the view that "storage may be oversupplied next year," he does not agree, and even stated that the real situation now is that "even with money, you may not necessarily be able to buy it."

Phison's Own AI Adoption Yields Notable Results, Monthly Benefit Exceeds NT$50 Million

According to media reports, Pua Khein-Seng recently pointed out at an event that once enterprises see AI bringing actual productivity improvements, they will continue to increase equipment investment. Therefore, AI is not a short-term theme, and it will continue to drive demand for servers, memory, and storage going forward.

It is said that Phison has invested about NT$50 million in purchasing AI equipment, building 11 AI servers in phases over the past six months, and more than 72% of employees currently use AI in their daily work. According to Phison's internal statistics, the additional work output created through AI in August alone was equivalent to about 210 engineers. Based on an average monthly cost of about NT$250,000 per engineer, the monthly benefit exceeded NT$50 million, meaning the equipment investment could pay for itself in about one month. Pua Khein-Seng estimates that by the end of this year, the work output created by AI equipment could be equivalent to 500-700 people.

Expand AI Infrastructure Layout, Phison AI Data Platform Lands in Taiwan

Phison previously acquired land and buildings in Zhunan, Miaoli for NT$2.05 billion, actively expanding its AI infrastructure layout. According to Pua Khein-Seng, the company is planning to convert the relevant buildings into a self-use data center. In addition to meeting Phison's internal AI computing needs, it is also expected to serve the supply chain, and in the future, if government agencies have needs, related services could also be provided.

In addition, Phison's self-developed Phison AI Data Platform has gradually landed in Taiwan, having been adopted by 17 financial institutions, 30 medical institutions, 18 universities and colleges, 7 government agencies, and more than 70 small and medium-sized enterprises, with applications covering finance, healthcare, education, government, and enterprise. Phison has established a Corporate VC to target related AI startup investments, planning to replicate its experience in AI Data Platform and edge AI deployment accumulated in Taiwan to overseas markets through joint ventures and strategic cooperation models.
