SK Hynix has recently announced plans to build two new wafer fabs in Yongin and Cheongju, South Korea, with a combined investment of approximately 54 trillion won (about $38 billion). Specifically, the company plans to invest 35.2 trillion won (about $24.8 billion) in the Yongin "Y2" fab, which will serve as a DRAM production base. Additionally, it will invest 19.1 trillion won (about $13.5 billion) in the Cheongju "M17" fab to expand its NAND flash capacity.
