Samsung Foundry Deepens Nvidia Ties, Unveils 2nm HBM5 Development Plans

By: M 6 hours ago

According to foreign media reports, Samsung has been supplying HBM4, memory module SoCam2, and storage device PM1763 to Nvidia, and has now expanded the partnership by adding Grok3 LPU chip production. Industry observers said Samsung has established itself as a core partner spanning all areas of next-generation AI accelerator platforms through its foundry division's entry into Nvidia's supply chain. It has been confirmed that Samsung Electronics is developing its 8th-generation High Bandwidth Memory (HBM5) with a 2-nanometer (nm) process applied to the base die, the bottommost layer. For the 9th-generation HBM5E, the company plans to preemptively apply 1d (7th-generation 10nm-class) based DRAM to the core die.
