According to Korean media reports, Samsung Electronics is developing an AI chip called "GAIA" for AI PCs. GAIA is manufactured using a 4nm process and is considered a "memory-centric AI accelerator" that positions computing functions in close proximity to memory. Unlike AI accelerators equipped with graphics processing units (GPUs), GAIA is dedicated solely to AI computing and adopts an optimized neural processing unit (NPU) architecture. Currently, Samsung Electronics is supplying GAIA chips to AI PC manufacturers such as Lenovo and HP for performance validation.
