By: M 11 hours ago

According to foreign media reports, ByteDance is in talks with Iluvatar CoreX, a Shanghai-based company, to purchase AI chips for inference tasks. It is said that ByteDance plans to procure at least 50,000 Iluvatar CoreX AI chips, most of which will be used for inference workloads, aiming to expand the application scope of Doubao.

Sources revealed that Iluvatar CoreX has previously primarily supplied products for government procurement projects, making this potential deal with ByteDance an important commercial milestone for the company. If the transaction goes through, Iluvatar CoreX will become ByteDance's third domestic GPU supplier, following Huawei and Cambricon.

In addition, ByteDance is considering using Baidu's Kunlun chips. According to sources, Tencent is already a user of Kunlun chips.

So far, deal details have remained subject to change and none of the companies have commented.
