Q3 Revenue Up 131% YoY, Non-GAAP Net Income Surges 341% YoY
Silicon Motion announced its financial results for the third quarter of 2026. During the reporting period, the company achieved revenue of $560 million, setting a record high for the fourth consecutive quarter, up 24% QoQ and 131% YoY; Non-GAAP net income was $149 million, up 79.4% QoQ and 341% YoY.
Across three major product lines, Ferri and enterprise boot drive solutions delivered the strongest growth, with third-quarter revenue up 75% to 80% QoQ and 2,580% to 2,585% YoY; SSD controller revenue grew 20% to 25% QoQ and 55% to 60% YoY; embedded eMMC and UFS controller revenue declined 10% to 15% QoQ but still grew 35% to 40% YoY.
Wallace Kou, President and CEO of Silicon Motion, said the company is accelerating its transformation from a consumer NAND Flash controller supplier into a supplier of controllers and storage solutions spanning AI infrastructure and edge computing. Third-quarter revenue, gross margin and operating margin all grew in tandem, mainly benefiting from increased demand for Ferri automotive and edge AI solutions, enterprise boot drives, and edge SSD controllers, along with the ramp-up of its new-generation MonTitan enterprise and AI SSD controllers, which together drove operating performance.
NAND Makers Shift Toward Enterprise, SMI Seizes New Opportunities with Product Portfolio and Supply Stability
Wallace Kou noted that the NAND industry is undergoing a major transformation. As demand for enterprise and AI storage continues to increase, the share of related applications in overall NAND supply is gradually rising, further pushing up NAND flash prices. In response to market changes, NAND makers are gradually shifting resources toward high-capacity enterprise SSDs and reducing investment in some consumer markets, including PCs, mobile devices, IoT, automotive and enterprise boot drives, which in turn brings new market opportunities for Silicon Motion.
In terms of product portfolio, Silicon Motion continues to invest in eMMC and UFS solutions, 6nm PCIe Gen5 edge SSD controllers, and 4nm MonTitan PCIe Gen6 enterprise and AI SSD controllers, while expanding its Ferri and enterprise boot drive product lines to target application markets such as AI data centers, AI servers, edge AI and physical AI.
Regarding rising memory prices, Kou analyzed that although climbing NAND costs may put price pressure on some consumer devices, enterprise and Ferri customers place greater emphasis on supply stability rather than pure price competition. As enterprise and AI-related products continue to increase their share of revenue, coupled with improved visibility on orders in hand and customer demand, the company remains optimistic about future growth.
Q4 Revenue Expected to Grow 5% to 10% QoQ, Full-Year Revenue Expected to Double YoY
Looking ahead to the fourth quarter, Silicon Motion expects revenue of $588 million to $616 million, up 5% to 10% QoQ and 111% to 121% YoY; gross margin is expected to rise to 54% to 55%, and operating margin may also increase to 36% to 37%. Silicon Motion expects full-year 2026 revenue to hit a record high, growing more than 100% YoY. In addition, the revenue contribution from enterprise and AI products is still at an early stage, and the subsequent growth potential is worth paying attention to.
