Samsung Reportedly Mulls Doubling Taylor Plant Capacity, Aiming for Early 2027 Production

According to media reports, Samsung Electronics' foundry division is evaluating plans to expand the initial production scale at its Taylor plant in Texas, USA, to twice the originally planned capacity. The Taylor plant represents one of Samsung's largest semiconductor investment projects in the United States. Originally scheduled to begin production in the second half of 2024, the facility has faced multiple delays and is currently undergoing equipment installation in some areas. Sources familiar with the matter revealed that the expansion evaluation is primarily driven by already secured customer orders. The Taylor plant is expected to complete its first wafer tape-outs by the end of 2026, with full-scale production likely commencing in early 2027.
