According to South Korean media reports, Hanmi Semiconductor announced today that it has acquired a 6,230-pyeong (approximately 20,595 square meters) factory site in the Incheon Jeongan National Industrial Complex from Mercury Inc., and will build its eighth plant on the site. The eighth plant is expected to become the company's largest manufacturing facility, with a total investment of 130 billion Korean won, including 56 billion won in acquisition costs. The new plant is planned to produce next-generation semiconductor equipment, including TC bonders and hybrid bonders for HBM, 2.5D packaging equipment for AI semiconductors, and BOC (Board on Chip) and COB (Chip on Board) equipment for high-performance memory production. After the completion of renovations and the construction of advanced production infrastructure, mass production is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2027.
