According to media reports, TSMC's Phase 2 expansion new fab at the Taichung campus of the Central Taiwan Science Park broke ground in October last year, and with construction progress accelerating, the capacity layout for its 1.4nm advanced process is gradually taking shape. It is reported that the Phase 2 expansion base is planned to include four new 1.4nm fabs, to be built successively with a gap of about six months between each. Among them, the P1 plant is currently undergoing floor slab construction and is expected to be completed and put into production in April next year; the P2 plant is currently undergoing foundation construction and is expected to be completed in October next year; the P3 plant has already obtained its building permit, while the P4 plant is still applying for one. The P1 and P2 new fabs are expected to begin mass production successively starting in 2027, and all four new fabs are expected to be completed by 2028.
