OpenAI Reportedly Collaborates with MediaTek and Qualcomm to Develop Mobile Processors

According to media reports, OpenAI is collaborating with MediaTek and Qualcomm to develop mobile phone chips, while Luxshare Precision serves as the exclusive system co-design and manufacturing partner. The project is expected to enter mass production in 2028. Among the partners, MediaTek and Qualcomm, as processor co-developers, stand to benefit from replacement demand in the long term, and are expected to finalize specifications and suppliers by the end of 2026 or the first quarter of 2027. Luxshare Precision's early positioning could allow it to gain a leading advantage in the next mobile phone era.
