MediaTek Reportedly Secures Major Order for Google TPU8

According to Taiwan media reports, with Google officially launching its eighth-generation TPU chip, MediaTek's ASIC business has reached a new milestone. MediaTek is involved in the TPU 8t (training) project, providing I/O die and backend design services. Supply chain sources indicate that MediaTek has increased procurement of FT (Final Test) and SLT (System Level Test) equipment and continues to drive up demand for CoWoS. Google's new TPU 8 architecture is divided into TPU 8t (training) and TPU 8i (inference). MediaTek has entered the core design of the training processor, utilizing TSMC's N3P process and CoWoS-S advanced packaging technology to co-develop the AI ASIC, demonstrating that its technical capabilities can now support high-end AI model training demands.
