According to people familiar with the matter, senior procurement executives from Tesla are expected to visit Samsung this week to negotiate increased foundry production volumes for the 2-nanometer AI6 chip.
The original contract signed last year called for about 16,000 wafers per month. Tesla is now seeking to add roughly 24,000 wafers of additional capacity.
If the deal is finalized, total monthly production could rise to around 40,000 wafers. Such volumes could significantly contribute to securing initial utilization rates at Samsung's new foundry plant being built in Taylor, Texas.
