OpenAI recently announced the completion of an $110 billion funding round, valuing the company at $730 billion pre-money. Amazon, Nvidia, and SoftBank invested $50 billion, $30 billion, and $30 billion respectively. Simultaneously, OpenAI deepened its partnership with AWS, extending its original 7-year, $38 billion computing power agreement to 8 years and $100 billion, and committing to purchase approximately 2GW of Trainium series AI chip computing power to support stateful runtime, Frontier, and other businesses. The collaboration covers Trainium3 and Trainium4, scheduled for delivery in 2027, the latter of which will improve computing performance and memory bandwidth.
