According to a report citing industry sources from Korean media, Samsung Electronics plans to deliver samples of its CMM-D memory modules based on the CXL 3.1 specification to major server and data center clients in the third quarter of this year, with mass production potentially starting as early as the fourth quarter.
Compared to the previous generation CMM memory modules based on the CXL 2.0 specification, the per-channel transfer rate of the CXL 3.1 CMM-D is doubled. This means systems can achieve greater memory bandwidth from the CXL-attached memory, thereby improving overall operational efficiency.
