SK hynix Dismantles Cheongju Photomask Plant, Transforms into Wafer Testing Facility to Boost HBM Yield

According to the report that South Korean media Herald Economy citing industry insiders, SK hynix started demolishing its C1 photomask plant located at the Cheongju campus last week. It is reported that the company has launched the renovation of the Cheongju photomask plant to rebuild it into a R&D center focused on wafer testing process technologies. The ongoing renovation is scheduled to be operational as early as December this year or no later than February next year. The move is widely seen as an effort to raise the production yield of High Bandwidth Memory (HBM). Nevertheless, an official from SK Hynix responded that the relevant information could not be confirmed.
