According to Korean media reports, Samsung Electronics has postponed its mass production plans for CXL 3.1-based memory modules (CMM-D 3.0) due to delayed CPU releases supporting CXL 3.1 technology from Intel, AMD, and other manufacturers. Industry insiders reveal that Samsung will temporarily maintain production of its CXL 2.0-based CMM-D 2.0 memory modules. Although the company had originally planned to begin producing customer samples of the CMM-D 3.0 in June of last year, that schedule has been pushed back. Sources indicate that the transition has been delayed due to the need for additional mass production of CXL 2.0 to meet demand. At the same time, the slow opening of the market is attributed to the fact that the CXL 3.1 ecosystem has not yet been established. Samsung Electronics reportedly responded by stating: "Although the plan has been adjusted, we are proceeding with mass production preparations as originally scheduled and will not be affected." This suggests that mass production could still be achieved in the fourth quarter of this year.
