NIO CEO William Li: Shenji's Second Chip Successfully Taped Out and is in Mass Production

On March 10th, during the Q4 2025 and Full-Year Earnings Call, NIO CEO William Li revealed that the second advanced intelligent chip from its chip subsidiary, Shenji, designed for a wider range of customers, has successfully completed tape-out and is currently in mass production. This new chip will expand beyond NIO's internal application scenarios to external customers in fields such as robotics.

As Shenji's first core product, the "Shenge NX9031" is the world's first 5nm automotive-grade high-performance intelligent driving chip. Since its production began in 2024, it has shipped over 150,000 units, fully deployed across NIO's entire vehicle lineup. This chip boasts over 50 billion transistors, a 32-core CPU architecture, and integrated LPDDR5x high-speed memory with a memory bandwidth of 546 GB/s. It enables a high dynamic range, high-performance ISP with a processing latency of less than 5ms. Notably, its memory bandwidth is twice that of NVIDIA's next-generation autonomous driving chip, Thor-U. This means the chip can access information faster and reduce inference latency when processing massive amounts of visual data.

Shenji Technology is the core entity supporting NIO's self-developed chip system. In February of this year, the company completed its first round of equity financing, raising over 2.2 billion RMB, with a post-investment valuation of nearly 10 billion RMB. With the successful tape-out of its second chip and its progress towards marketization, Shenji Technology is actively expanding into emerging businesses such as embodied robots and agent inference.
