According to financial documents submitted by Nvidia to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the company will invest a total of $26 billion over the next five years to fully advance the development of open-source large AI models. This investment scale far exceeds the $3 billion spent by OpenAI on training GPT-4. Nvidia has officially embarked on a strategic transformation from a "chip manufacturer" to a "full-stack top-tier AI lab". According to the plan, the $26 billion investment will not focus solely on the development of a single model but will cover the entire industrial chain of open-source large AI models. The funds will be gradually deployed over the next 18 to 24 months, with the first batch of self-developed open-source AI models expected to be officially released between late 2026 and early 2027.
