China's First Open Source Community Focused on Embodied AI Datasets Established

Recently, at the OpenAtom "Park Tour" event held in Shanghai, China's first open source community focused on embodied AI datasets—the "OpenAtom Embodied AI Open Source Dataset Community"—was officially announced. Initiated by the OpenAtom Foundation and led by Leju Robotics, the community is jointly built with core partners including Ant Lingbo, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Harbin Institute of Technology, and Unitree Robotics. This marks a shift for China's embodied AI industry from "breakthroughs by individual players" to a new phase of "collaborative ecosystem development."

During the event, the "Open Source Dataset Working Group" under the Artificial Intelligence Open Source Community of the OpenAtom Foundation was also launched. The working group will unite efforts from industry, research institutions, and standardization organizations to systematically advance the development of technical specifications, standards systems, and security compliance for open source datasets. It aims to tackle critical challenges such as inconsistent industry standards and insufficient ecosystem synergy.

At the event, the OpenLET "Deft Tactile Manipulation + Full-Body Motion" dataset made its global debut. This dataset is China's first open source, full-size humanoid robot full-body collaborative multi-modal real-robot dataset, filling a gap in the industry. Its highlights include providing multi-modal information such as fingertip pressure matrices and six-dimensional force data, achieving synchronized alignment across the entire "vision-tactile-action" chain. The full-body collaborative data covers control signals for 41 joints, with task dimensions extending from basic walking to complex full-body coordinated movements like squatting and bending.

Cheng Xiaoming, Chairman of the OpenAtom Foundation, stated that as a promoter of the open source cause, the foundation adheres to a neutral and open stance, extensively connecting industrial resources and innovative forces. To date, the foundation has cultivated and incubated 52 open source projects, injecting strong momentum into the development of the software industry and continuously empowering the digital transformation of various sectors. Looking ahead, the foundation will leverage its platform advantages to unite forces from industry, academia, research, and application, jointly promoting the prosperous development of the open data ecosystem.
