Acer Chairman and CEO Jason Chen pointed out in an interview yesterday that the memory shortage situation will persist at least until mid-2026. The supply and demand dynamics in the second half of the year will be determined by the production capacity release from several major memory manufacturers following their capacity expansion. Jason Chen also stated that memory prices account for approximately 25% of PC material costs, and recent price increases of 50% to 100% are expected to drive up terminal selling prices. Although PC shipments are projected to decline, the overall sales revenue will rise due to the increase in average selling prices. Regarding AI PCs, he predicts that the penetration rate of built-in NPUs will increase from over 30% in 2025 to more than 50% this year.
