According to foreign media reports, SK Hynix is set to introduce extreme ultraviolet lithography (EUV) equipment valued at approximately 12 trillion Korean won (around 55.4 billion yuan), representing 9.97% of its total assets. The equipment will be used in the mass production of next-generation DRAM and high-bandwidth memory (HBM). The introduction is scheduled to take place in phases from this month through the end of next year, with payments made per unit upon each delivery.
EUV equipment is exclusively manufactured by the Dutch company ASML. With a wavelength just 1/13 that of traditional ArF light sources, EUV is critical for achieving ultra-fine semiconductor manufacturing processes. The latest model of the equipment is priced at around 300 billion Korean won per unit. The equipment will be installed at the Cheongju M15X wafer fabrication plant, which is currently under construction, as well as at the first plant in the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster. At the Yongin site, equipment installation is expected to begin after the cleanroom becomes operational in February next year.
