Memory controller IC designer Skymedi to report loss for 2013

NAND Flash controller IC design house Skymedi is likely to report a loss for 2013 due to a significant cut in orders from a major client, according to market observers.
Skymedi has been a supplier of stand-alone NAND Flash device controllers for Samsung Electronics and Kingston Technology, said the sources. While continuing its steady supply to Kingston, Skymedi has seen orders placed by Samsung reduce gradually since the Korea-based vendor started disposing of its Skymedi shares in early 2013, the observers indicated.
Skymedi has reported pre-tax losses of NT$506 million (US$17.1 million), or losses of NT$7.79 per share, for the first 11 months of 2013. In November, the company posted pre-tax losses of NT$37.73 million with revenues slipping to NT$56.1 million - the lowest monthly level in 2013.
Skymedi's cumulative 2013 revenues through November totaled NT$839 million, falling 5.5% from a year earlier.
