According to media reports, Intel and AMD have notified customers that they will raise prices across their entire CPU lineup starting in March and April. This round of price increases stems from continued tight CPU supply. CPU prices have already increased multiple times this year, with an average increase of 10%-15%, and some products seeing even higher increases. Simultaneously, CPU delivery times have surged from 1-2 weeks to 8-12 weeks, and in some cases, as long as 6 months.
The core reason for this round of supply shortages is the surge in demand for AI computing power, leading to capacity constraints. Intel stated that the price adjustments reflect continued demand and rising material costs. Currently, Intel and AMD's capacity expansion is struggling to keep pace with demand, and industry insiders predict that supply shortages may further intensify from April to June.
