According to foreign media reports, Intel has reached a preliminary deal to make some chips for Apple, in a potential boost to Intel's contract manufacturing business and Washington's push to shore up U.S. chip production. The companies were engaged in intensive talks for more than a year and they hammered out a formal deal in recent months, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter. Apple currently relies entirely on TSMC to produce all its most advanced chips for its devices. However, faced with the surging demand for AI chips, TSMC's wafer production capacity is ultimately limited. If this deal is ultimately reached, it would significantly boost Intel's foundry business and the progress of its advanced process mass production.
