Applied Materials announced that it has established a new innovation partnership with TSMC to accelerate the development and commercialization of next-generation semiconductor technologies for the AI era, building on more than 30 years of collaboration between the two companies. The companies plan to jointly develop materials engineering, device innovation, and process integration technologies at Applied Materials' EPIC (Equipment and Process Innovation and Commercialization) Center in Silicon Valley, aiming to achieve energy-efficient performance from data centers to the edge. Applied Materials has committed up to $5 billion to the EPIC Center, which is expected to begin operations in 2026. The center is designed to bring together chipmakers and equipment suppliers to accelerate the rapid transition of new technologies from the lab to large-scale commercial production.
