According to foreign reports, under the pressure and insistence of the Trump administration, Tesla is considering moving production of its AI6.5 chip from TSMC to Intel. It is reported that both Tesla's AI6 and AI6.5 chips will adopt new LPDDR6 memory, with the AI6 chip scheduled for tape-out in December 2026 and the AI6.5 chip expected to follow a few months later. Analysts point out that Tesla has long relied on TSMC for high-volume production of its AI5 chips, and shifting production from its primary workhorse to Intel's advanced nodes, which remain insufficiently tested and still face yield issues, appears highly unlikely.
