IBM has announced a partnership with Arm to jointly develop a new "dual-architecture hardware" designed to help enterprises run future AI and data-intensive workloads with greater flexibility, reliability, and security.
This collaboration combines IBM's strengths in system reliability, security, and scalability with Arm's resources in energy-efficient architecture, workload support expertise, and a broad software ecosystem, aiming to build a flexible and scalable computing platform for the future.
The IBM-Arm partnership focuses on three key areas: developing virtualization technologies that enable Arm-based software environments to run on IBM's enterprise computing platforms; meeting the performance, efficiency, and security requirements of modern AI and data-intensive application workloads; and creating a shared technology layer across platforms to enable greater flexibility for the broader software ecosystem as well as application deployment and management methods.
