MediaTek Chairman Tsai Ming-kai stated at the company's annual shareholders' meeting that AI data centers represent a significant growth opportunity. MediaTek's ASIC revenue target for this year is US$2 billion, and it is expected to reach several billion dollars next year. While mobile phone chips have been MediaTek's most important core product for the past 20 years and will remain as a key product line next year and beyond, the technologies developed for mobile phones can also be applied to other products. Many technologies used in data centers have also been accumulated through mobile phone chip development. Regarding supply chain cost pressure, Tsai analyzed that the rapidly growing demand for AI computing power is driving technological upgrades and structural changes across the global supply chain. Given limited production capacity, prices for components such as memory have risen sharply and lead times have lengthened. MediaTek will continue to collaborate with its supply chain and is considering adjusting prices to appropriately pass on higher supply chain costs.
